Cyclone Ului
#1
I have been trying to live life to the full of late - my most recent crazy adventure was catching a last minute flight to Mackay Queensland to deliberately experience being in a Cyclone (Cyclone Ului that just hit the central coast of QLD last weekend)

We (the bf and i) stayed with some of my bf's friends and we experienced 110km/h winds, strange whistling noises made by the wind up against the windows and a number of large tree limbs fell on the roof above the couch we were on making a sort of canopy over the veranda - thankfully they did not penetrate the roof or windows however 1 light globe did fall from the roof and smash on the ground! We went out in it a few times for some short walks until it wasn't safe enough to do so and the power had gone out from various trees over power lines!

I saw some photo's of a Marina break we'd only walked on the day before - the cyclone eroded half the pathway and dislodged and moved rocks the size of 2 people up onto the path! CRAZY! I wish i'd revisited it myself the day after to take some photo's of it myself!

Was all very exciting and now i can say I've experienced a cyclone!

haha, funny you should mention storms in the USA - my BF plans to go on the Tornado tour next year over there! Very unlikely i'll be able to afford to go along with him though =(

oh yeah, the place is called tornado alley, not cyclone alley ─ cyclone alley didn't sound quite right.

Why are Q Landers always on about how good the weather is?

Every second week is a flood or big storm or rivers overflowing.

The get a zillion times the rain that Victoria gets, and hardly any more sunshine, mixed with the highest humidity.

They can have it.

I vowed to never ever go north of the Murray, however I broke that vow last week and went to the Central Coast.

Next school hols I may go to Canberra, so that's twice broken vows!

At least Canberrians are not always crowing about how good is this or that!
Well when i lived there i remember the weather being great ... it rained on occasion however because of the warmth it was always very pleasant when it rained .... i loved the weather up there to be honest. .. though i do like cold melbourne winter's too ... snuggling up under a blanket or in front of a fire etc ... it's easy to get warm when it's cold, much harder to stay cool when it's hot.

I'm quite the opposite, i'd love to see much more of Australia - nothing wrong with trips coz you know you can come back to wonderful Melbourne!

Well how is the new BF travelling?
going very well thanks for asking Peter .... couldn't be better really .... think luck has turned my way this time around (knock on wood). It's great to have someone that will allow you to be yourself, give you your own space but also want to spend lots of time with you and contact you regularly. Someone just to enjoy and share life's experiences with - it's wicked! HE'S wicked! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

You haven't spoken much about your own love life Peter .... married? Kids?
