Best Season For Melbourne Travel
#1
Hello,

what is the better season to visit your area? Fall, winter or spring? I'm planning a trip throughout Australia and don't want to run in the worst wheather.

come to southern Australia in our summer - jan to feb is nice and warm. or come in autumn from march to april is also very nice.

northern australia has a lot of rain in summer so its best to go up there in the winter!

hope that helps <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Thanks for Info! I'm thinking of a stop over in Dubai which is not a good destination in summer. So the European winter were the better choice.

Currently I'm comparing 2 options: guided group tour vs selforganized trip! What would you do?

if you do the group tour you will probably meet lots of people and make lots of friends. so that would be the most fun i guess.

personally, since i live here, i would just drive around and go see the things i am interested in.

if you did the self-guided tour, you could just hire a cheap car to get around. though you would have to adjust to driving on the left hand side of the road. have you ever done that before?

take care, glen

Probably a bit late for this but for Melbourne come and see the Comedy Festival. Its growing into one of the biggest in the world.

Of course Melbourne cup is a must. I have taken many over seas visitors and they love it.

Of course best of all is Midsummer and although not as big as Mardi Gras its a warm friendly atmosphere, after a while you start thinking everyone in Melbourne is gay!!Midsummer is becoming one of the countys best gay festivals. Theres another great one called CHILL OUT when Daylesford becomes totally gay.

Its a fun quirky day out. Warning: these guys sure know how to party!!!

Hi!

Am making a trip to Melbourne alone around 20 April for a short 5 days or so. are there any events or festivals during this few days? I know 22 Apr is Good Friday. Just hoping to see some interesting festivals and chatting with good people. Cheers!

There is the Cambodian festival at that time. Worth googling. Unfortunately I dont think you are here during the many major festivals, still even if football is not your thing the atmosphere is fabulous!
