Message for Galleries Looking to participate

Melbourne Art Fair 2008 is an invitation only art fair.

The Melbourne Art Fair Foundation invites selected national and international galleries to participate. Decisions concerning the admission or rejection of an Exhibitor are based on previous Fair presentations and project documentation submitted.

Only galleries who represent living artists and hold regular public exhibitions on their own business premises are admitted as Exhibitors. Some deviation from these admission conditions may be allowed in exceptional circumstances, but only at the discretion of the Melbourne Art Fair Foundation Board.

The Foundation admits exhibits of contemporary art post 1970 including paintings, sculpture, photographs, installations, film and sound recordings, provided these are original works.

It is a condition of all Exhibitors that 80% of all artwork on display is to be created by living artists. Participation in the Fair on one or more previous occasions does not grant entitlement to participation in subsequent Fairs.

Invitations are forwarded to galleries from July 2007, if you wish to express an interest in participating please forward the following information to Melbourne Art Fair Foundation:

1. A brief history of the gallery and artists represented

2. Visual examples of gallery and artist catalogues, programs and exhibitions

3. An exhibition proposal for Melbourne Art Fair 2008

Participation in Melbourne Art Fair 2008 is subject to a written invitation by the Melbourne Art Fair Foundation.

This individual/collective will have created a significant body of work and one that has had a considerable impact on Australian contemporary art practice. The second Award recognises the outstanding contribution made by an Australian who has developed and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to progress the status of contemporary Australian art nationally and beyond.
