Join one of Australia's favourite performers for an intimate show with her acoustic three-piece.
Christine Anu, is a multi-ARIA award winner and her signature tune My Island Home will resonate in the hearts of Australians for all time!
From very humble beginnings in the Torres Strait in far North Queensland, Christine has worked hard at establishing a successful and varied career in singing, dancing and acting.
The release of Anuâs first album âStylin Upâ set the country on fire, and produced a great many hit singles, including âMy Island Homeâ (penned by Neil Murray), âPartyâ, "Monkey and the Turtle" and âWanem Timeâ, as well as winning an ARIA Award.
Christine then made a deeper foray into the land of theatre and film, appearing in feature films, television and musical theatre to much acclaim.
Following the birth of her son Kuiam, Baz Luhrmann invited her to sing on his internationally released album âSomething for Everybodyâ, the duet she recorded with Opera star David Hobson âNow Until The Break Of Dayâ was a national hit.
Christine then went back into the studio and recorded her second album âCome My Wayâ. Hit singles from this album include âSunshine On A Rainy Dayâ, âJump To Loveâ and âCoz Iâm Freeâ a song inspired by Cathy Freeman. The release aligned with her appearance at the closing ceremony of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
Following some tours, and more feature film roles (Moulin Rouge, Matrix Reloaded), Christine had a baby daughter, Zipporah, in 2002. Full of inspiration after having Zippy, she went straight back to the recording studio and the release of her third Album â45 Degreesâ quickly followed. This album produced the hit single âTalk About Loveâ.
Following some more stage and television work (Kissing Frogs, Popstars), Anu decided to devote more time to her two children.
The lead role in the new musical show âIntimate and Deadlyâ encouraged Christine back on stage. Her performance won rave reviews and the season was extended to include additional shows in Sydney and Melbourne, and will travel to other states.
Christineâs career covers all facets of show-business and she has appeared on all our major TV shows including Rove, The Panel, GMA, Sunrise, and her efforts have been well-acknowledged in the industry. Her many awards include four DEADLY AWARDS, APRA AWARD: Song of the Year for âMy Island Homeâ, ARIA AWARD: Best Indigenous Artist âStylin Upâ, ARIA AWARD: Best Video for Bazmark âNow Until The Break Of Dayâ, GREEN ROOM AWARD: Best Actress in a musical for Mimi in âRentâ and both âStylin Upâ and âCome My Wayâ went platinum.
