Revealing the beauty and enduring fascination of the distinctive Malaysian womenâs kebaya, this exhibition will be shown for the first and only time in Australia at the Immigration Museum.
From its beginnings in Peranakan Straits Chinese communities in the 1800s, the kebaya has evolved into a modern-day Malaysian fashion icon.
Nyonya Kebaya draws on one of the worldâs largest collections of historic and contemporary kebaya, gathered by the late wife of Malaysiaâs Prime Minister, and presents the history and evolution of this stunning garment.
