Car Insurance Melbourne
#1
Hi everyone, I just got my car insurance and started wondering whether I could get a cheaper deal. I am currently with Allianz. Does anyone know any cheap insurance companies for melbourne cars that they can recommend?

I have tried RACV and AAMI but they were not any cheaper.

Cheers, Glen

Try Bingle.com, they are a new online insurer underwritten by AAMI. I'm sure you can get a good deal if you are over 25. They don't insure mods though.

I just purchased my car insurance from 1300Insurance.com.au. It was a really good price.

I just got my bill from allianz and they put the price up a hundred bucks! so will have to change companies again...such a hassle! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I will ask them for a discount and if they refuse then I will switch <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Look if you are looking for car insurance then the only way you're going to get a better deal is to compare all competitive policies (if you're comparing comprehensive then of course don't go comparing prices of CTP). Most of the time the big guys charge alot more because-wll most people just turn straight to them if you don't need a big name, just a good insurance policy then there are heaps of other providers that are much cheaper (probably cos they dont have the same huge marketing costs and margins). Try this http://www.infochoice.com.au/compare-car...ce-quotes/ for a few quotes from a few different insurers. If you get a better price then make sure you check on the factsheet to see if you are comparing like policies ( same cover i.e flood damge, accidental damage, collusion, personal belongings and whatever else is important to you). I use to be with Allianz and what I found is when I called them up threatening to switch cos i found a cheaper policy they will give you a better price- so you could try that if you're uncomfortable switching.
