The Writing On The Wall.
#1
Er how large does the writing on the wall need be before Gillard sees it?

It would have to be saying something else....As in reverse psychology. Something like, "she doesn't have the guts to quit!" hahaha

I presume you are referring to the back stabbing by Julia of Rudd. I bet he is loving watching her slide into a deep dark hole.

Sorry guys but this kind of thing actually alienates people.

Certainly talk politics but its nearly always about you hating personalities. I find that unintelligent. Even when Bob Brown retired no decency no kind words. Constant vicious Bolt like bitchiness.

I disagreed with much of what Kennet stood for but once shook his hand. Great guy!

I even sent a card to John Howard wishing him well.

What I love about Australia is that we can have robust discussion on issues but on this site its always sexist crap about what an awful woman so and so is.

THere is a quaint simplicity that has slipped into what was once a good site.

Have a look at how many have left and ask why.

I have kept in touch with a few.

Heres the way it is here.

Liberal=Good

Labor = Ignorant and Bad

Issues do not matter but you must hate all Labor pollies and people who vote for them. Its good to hate all women but try to hate Gillard even more. Unless sh does something good but she never will because she is Labor.

Bolt =brilliant

Why not re name this site.

Melbourne Right.

Maybe that upset you I really didnt mean to.

Its politics, its Australia

If you dont like it as it is leave.

Talk of being covered in blood. Name calling of our Prime Minister who at least deserves respect.

Its all absurd and if want Labor people to leave and just chat with one another so be it.

Pity really I liked it before better where Melbourne chat was chat without the hate.

I wish I could edit that because I really like the people concerned and yes I liked the site. Its just that the site has gone into one direction. I guess I am over the I hate the red hair unmarried lady atheist bit. Hell shes our Prime Minister. You may not like her but you MUST respect the office. In the army I was taught to respect the uniform regardless of how I felt about the man. I might have been too tough and although I meant it I try to be more gentle. THe sheer bitterness to a great Aussie like Bob Brown who saved the Franklin was simply disgraceful. Hell he retired. No respect, nothing! How mean spirited.

Gillard is a strong gutsy brave woman and yes she will be chucked out.

I dont agree with all she has done either.

I really think the quality of the site would improve with more quality discussion and fair.

Hell in the thread on best premiers I nominated a Liberal as our best Premier.

Hi PeterS. I would not say I am "right" in a political sense. I am more of a fence sitter. Who knows, I will probably vote Labor at the next federal election.

I don't agree that we have to respect the prime minister regardless of what they say and do. The current Prime Minister is quite rude to others and takes any opportunity to put others down (particularly the opposition but also anyone who disagrees with her). I don't think someone who carries on like that (whether the person is male, female, old, young etc) can expect the community to treat them with respect. I think respect needs to be earned. I know that is quite different to the army hierarchy but I am not in the army (and neither is the prime minister) so am not too fussed about taking a different approach.

I certainly don't mean to sound sexist and apologies if I have come across this way. How could I be sexist when I have a lovely mum, wife and daughter who I cherish.

PeterS...it is always great to hear what you say. You are one of the few that takes the time to make thoughtful comments. And you always have something interesting to say. I hope that you will not be put off from using the site.

Cheers, Glen <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I have never quite understood the unwashed bit. I am sure you always come up smelling like a rose Peter.

Its just politics and while we all have passion never really worth getting too upset about.

Perhaps not unwashed....what about the shirtless ones of Eva Peron?

One of the funniest bits of footage is a clip of Eva covered in millions of dollars worth of jewels and clothing lifts her arms up and says to the thousands gathered "WE THE SHIRTLESS ONES"

Peter even the crazy greens and minorities pay taxes!!!

Many of them also served their country.

Oh and there is little doubt that broad band is progressive in deed business that now has it is especially impressed.

How much?

With Labor free.

With the Coalition it will cost you $5,000 to get it.

How can a party claiming to represent business justify that?

Simple ..it cant.

Turnbull and the sane Libs are not impressed.

And honestly is there ANY intelligent argument against broad band?

Of course not! Ask business.

I know several who have it and love it.

Its going to cost money and worth EVERY SINGLE cent!!

Libs will not roll it back or heaven forbid stop it.

If they did they will be finished.

AN EXCELLENT post Peter!!

Irrelevant whether or not I agree its well thought out.

Oh dear ..sounds like the teacher in me but I hope you accept it as intended. Guess what Conroy is the one Labor guy I dislike.

I think broad band MUSt happen and the Labor plan is the best.

I honestly believe Turnbull is not happy.

Yes I must say that Tony is not off to a good start if this is the start of the roll out of Lib policies.

Perhaps we needed Tony for a while so we could better appreciate Turnball. Maybe it is time to hand back the reigns?

Quote:Hello Peter S.

Here in Darebin (Preston etc.) the great unwashed can get free wireless at a major shopping strip. Courtesy of Labor's Darebin Council.

Alas they never explained how these disadvantaged managed to get a nice laptop to take advantage of it.

I love the description of the "shirtless one"!

The Libs are putting out an NBN policy this week.

They will say:

"Fibre to node buddy".

What they won't say is that they have NO intention of doing that.

They will simply wait until in power and give a spiel on "Cannot change contracts etc."

Everyone know fibre to the node is best.

Yes Labor is giving free connection, but not free download, the ISPs will set that price. It won't be cheap.

NBN is now blown out by several billions and projected finish date 2023 or near.

So don't hold your breath waiting.

Worse for you if you are inner city, Labor know that no matter what you will vote for them so Labor will go for the marginal seats.

At least the Libs will concentrate on the cities and get funds to expand faster, unlike the wacky business model now running.

So after about 3 years we have about the grand total of almost no connections as distinct to premises passed.

I must admit the 50 odd spin doctors employed by NBN is impressive! God knows what they do!

I thought the NBN under Conroy was so good it sold itself!

Conroy another dud who will never be missed!
