How To Cut Your Own Hair (for Guys - Short)

How to cut your own hair

I was mentioning the other day that I was thinking of actually going to a hairdresser and getting a style done! Well I was just surfing on youtube a bit and I found some interesting videos on how to cut your own hair!

I thought I would share a few of them.

This was Mr Military Precision (and he is pretty vain I think!):

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hndTRmOijBc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hndTRmOijBc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

This is Mr Hatchet! He just seems to chop and hope for the best:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ic7mliw4Udw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ic7mliw4Udw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

This one is just using clippers which is sort easy and sort of pointless showing such a simple video:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EDhR6z24VCk"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EDhR6z24VCk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

This is an army guy who does some very short hair dos but they look sorta cool but maybe too short for me :

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4We0UxkmYYc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4We0UxkmYYc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

If you come across any other good info about how to cut your own hair please let me know since I think this is probably what I will end up doing.

Is there a shortage of Hairdressers in Melbourne Glen?, The only person I know who cuts his own hair is my Dad!

Hi Mel,

I haven't been to a hairdresser in about 10 years :-) and before that I long hair so I didn't go to a hairdresser for another 4 years before that.

So I figure in 14 years I would have saved enough to buy a car! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> hehehe

Hi Glen

I read your previous post regarding Men's Hair. Instead of cutting your own hair I would strongly recommend visiting a qualified Men's cutter who specialises in Men's Hair. My group of mates put me on to Biba Men in the city. Its quite reassuring to have a guy attend to your 'crowning glory' who knows what guys want and how we want to wear it. I think a lot of men today are always questioning where to get a good haircut and what options they have for their hair as a style. I pay $25 normally but Biba in the basement also have a walk in special of $15.

Check them out

Andy

I usually go for the no1 crew cut.. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

The staff there will give you a head massage too, which is usually why I wait until I get a headache before going in. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Professionals go to school to know the answer of how to cut hair, as for cutting your own hair, it will probably come out worse than what you have paid for in the past.

Sometimes hairstylists have portfolios that you can ask to see, so you know what kind of cuts they are the best at, and if you expect to have your hair look a certain way then you should definitely bring a picture.

I'm sorry, but in general the answer to this question is don't, unless you are just trimming bangs, and even that can be bad.
