Great Ocean Road
#1
it's not exactly in melbourne, but anyone who is visiting melbourne and has a whole day to spare shouldn't miss the trip down the great ocean road. it's a great scenic drive and there are so many different places that you can stop at along the way. the only thing i didn't care for was the amount of flies there were when we stopped at the twelve apostles (are there normally that many flies there, i wonder?). we stopped at two or three beaches (don't ask me which ones they were - we just stopped at the nicest looking ones - and as a bonus there was a surf carnival in progress at one of them), at cape otway and at any interesting places we saw on the way. i'd love to do it again, but next time i'll bring some insect repellent.

actually i took quite a few photos the last time i was in melbourne - of the city itself and of the great ocean road. i could post some more if you want - any particular places you would be after photos of?

my digital camera was giving a bit of trouble at the time (i think it maybe didn't like being dropped on the footpath) so i used an old camera and rolls of film (remember when we all used that?). this means that i may not post them straight away, as before i post any of them i have to scan them into my pc. i'll check to see if the brightness needs adjusting next time too, as these ones came out a little bit dark.

if you can post more photos that would be great. but if you have to scan them all that sounds like a lot of work!!!

any shots of melbourne would be very much appreciated.

Hi! I'm visiting Melbourne in early October this year and I'd really like to see the Great Ocean Road and the beautiful rocks that Helen has photographed. I'm not comfortable with driving and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good way to get out to see them?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Bdot, there are heaps of bus tours available! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Most hotels are full of paphlets from different operators. If you stop in at the Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square you will get them all there as well.

Here is one example great ocean road bus tour: http://www.gowest.com.au/
