Buying Glasses Online Australia
#1
I bought a pair of prescriptive sunnies from Glasses Online - and was very pleased with the outcome of the purchase. It was more than I had expected - considering the quality, fit and exact prescription - which I would've paid an amount of AUD420 for, from an Optometrist....if you're looking for a pair of prescriptive sunnies....this is the way to go! They even have them in the latest trend of sunnies! With fast delivery....

Hi everyone!,

Another great place I've discovered lately is http://www.glassespoint.com.au I bought my bifocal glasses from them and really happy with the purchase. They have a big range to choose from. I cheked the quality of lenses prescription with my local optometrist and everything was spot on. I saved around 350$ on those glasses.

Wilma and Matt seem to be recommending certain sites.

I have a good one also: http://www.stingyspecs.com.au/

I don't like how some online glasses stores suggest that optometrists are ripping people off. I saw an article on TV where it was claimed that optometrists get frames for 2 - 10 dollars and sell them for over 200. I have some experience in optical retail and this is just not true for the majority of cases. It is very expensive to run a shop, and the markup is where the money for those expenses comes from.

It is possible to buy old season - like 5 year old style - frames cheap, but you cannot get away with selling them at the price of current models in a retail shop. I think that the way online glasses retailers can sell glasses cheap is either by importing their own range or by buying old stock which is cheap. Stingy Specs has its own range. Have a look at the frames sold online to make up your own mind about whether they are current styles or not.

I discovered a great american site www.sunglassexpo.com with huge selection. Their prices are actually cheaper than here in australia. I got a nice pair of Tom Form Whitney's. Surprisingly the glasses arrived within 6 days. I strongly recommend it to everyone. they also do price match guarantee.

Thanks for the tip Sue but I don't think I'd be willing to purchase progressives on the internet. Every time I buy mine the optometrist takes a measurement of where my eye is. One time the measurement wasn't quite right and I couldn't see with them properly.

I did recently buy a pair of reading glasses over the net. They were great for a spare pair. They only cost me $65 from Webglasses and they were quick! www.webglasses.com.au

But I think I will stick to buying my progressives from my optometrist.
