Ok its very much an institution here in Vic but if you have not been for a while its well worth a trip. Of course like many modern zoos the animals come first so you might not even see some animals who might be hiding or sleeping in their enclosures.

But its very impressive and the surrounds are just lovely.

The flight show with the birds of prey and parrots is world class but the newest attraction is a ripper.

Its called Tales of Platypus Creek and its brilliant. The keepers really care for these lovely creatures. The keeper hops into a tank with the platypus as she tells her wonderful story. As most of you know I am an ardent animal lover and this show is superb. The platypus actually seems to love her keeper even swimming between her legs making herself at home in lets just say a rather intimate place. The platypus even seems to love having its tummy tickled and keeps coming back for more.

 

I went there the other day with a guest and I must say the place was buzzing.

If you have not been for a while do see it.

The Tales Of Platypus Creek is a real winner. It cost $$$$ to build and worth every cent.

The conservation lessons are wonderful.

Hey green guy. Did you see the Bird show. I thought that was the best bit. The parrots and the wedge tail eagle were awesome!

Yes Glen. It was outstanding. You need to see the new Platypus Creek show as well, not on the scale of the bird show but quite enchanting. The maze near the sanctuary is also lovely although mainly geared to kids and they love it.

Yes Glen.

If you or others have kids its a perfect spot. We as adults loved the scenery and actually liked the maze itself. Theres stacks for children there and adults can enjoy the surrounding scenery. Actual;y found the maze quiz rather hard but liked the challenge. They dont forget adults completely.

You  can spend a couple of hours here.

The place does need a bit of TLC though.

Sounds good! In the maze i guess if you just stick to the right or left do you eventually find your way out?

Actually this one is surprisingly tricky but what they have done to make it more interesting and if you like educational is set you a task of answering various questions (child friendly with help from dad or mum) as you walk through so its not just a matter of finding the exit.

Oh the mini golf course is fun but they have also come up with one I had never seen and even I as an "older kid" had fun . They call it frisbe golf or something like that but its a matter of throwing your Frisbee and hitting posts. The scenery is stunning.

If you are really energetic you can play paint ball wars.

I only live a stones throw away from the Sanctuary. I've been countless times and I don't think I could ever get sick of the place!

Definitely worth the trip out to the Yarra Valley, there's plenty of other sights to see to turn it into a weekend
