Math Trick Phone Number
#1
Thanks to duck for sharing this one <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Seems to work on the landline number only (8 digits).

Quote:Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.

Personally I would like to know who came up with this.

Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your Head)

1. Key in the first four digits of your phone number (NOT the Area code)

2. Multiply by 80

3. Add 1

4. Multiply by 250

5. Add to this the last 4 digits of your phone number

6. Add to this the last 4 digits of your phone number again.

7. Subtract 250

8. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer ??

might as well turn this into a puzzle thread

we have a calcularor here on the table at all times anyway <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

i went hunting and found this <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

I. Directions

1. Think of your age in years

2. Multiply your age by 2

3. Add 10

4. Multiply by 5

5. Add # of siblings you have

6. Subtract 50

Look at your final answer; the first 2 digits are your age and the last digit is the number of siblings in your family. Have someone else try it! Kind of cool.
