Schooling In Melbourne
#1
Hi ,

We stay in dubai now.We have a PR for Australia. My elder daughter is in grade 8th (academic year started in 2008april).Her date of birth is aug31st 1996.What grade would she be taken in Melbourne if we move by 2009 jan and if we move by 2010 jan?I understand that from grade 7th the study pattern changes.Incase we move by 2010 jan n she is taken in grade 8th, would it make quite a difference incase she is not doing her grade 7th from australia?.

Secondly are the school fees different for different suburbs for private/semi private schools?

Which would be a bettter cosmopolitan suburb to move in around 20-30 minutes of radius of CBD?

How is Berwick?

Your response to my queries would be a great help in my decision making.

Thanks ,

High school starts at Year 7 so I guess it would be easier to start in that year. But then again, it is going to be a new school and a new environment in any case where she will have to get to make new friends etc so I guess from that point of view the starting year should not make too much difference.

We have some schools that are government funded and they are fairly cheap (just paying for books and other expenses I believe)..and then with the private schools some are moderately priced and some are ridiculously expensive. Though I guess things are expensive in Dubai anyway so it should not be too much of a shock <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Berwick is a nice enough area and the houses are a bit cheaper than the inner suburbs. But it is pretty far from the city!

Here are some local schools:

We recently moved to Australia from Germany, the system of education is different from European, I see it's pretty difficult for him to study so I had to get English tutor and Maths tutors as well on Ezy Maths Tutoring Service.
