Highbury Grove, Kew:old Photographs/history Help Please
#1
I require some information or photographs dealing with Highbury Grove, Kew. In particular I am seeking information regarding the old Wesleyan/Methodist church and parsonage, numbers 23 and 21 Highbury Grove. These days the parsonage is better known as the headquarters of the Melbourne College of Divinity. When constructed the building featured a small double balcony on it's northern corner. Does anyone know when this was removed? There is only one known photograph of the building showing it as built but it is extremely poor in quality and the details impossible to decipher. Can anyone provide any information or photographs of the building before 1970 and hopefully, before 1950. The research is simply for an architectural record and I have already contacted both the MCD and the Methodists Archives Librarian. Perhaps someone here has an old street snap or perhaps an old wedding or Sunday School picture? All information concerning the building even the anecdotal will be most helpful. Thank you, John

Hello Glen , thank you for the prompt response. I have tried the State library and the National Picture Collection but no luck There are a few pictures of the more recent Kindergarten located at the rear of the church but nothing of the church and parsonage (manse) on Highbury Grove.

I appreciate your suggestion though,

John

Perhaps I should clarify.... The pictures above are not of the church or parsonage they are misleadingly titled 21 Highbury grove but are of more recent 1920s buildings used as a kindergarten. They are behind the church and do not face Highbury grove. The pictures I seek are of a two storied, brick building facing Highbury grove and currently used as the Melbourne College of Divinity. The building still exists and is very sound. I am hoping someone has photographs of its original condition before it was altered. I believe this occured before the second world war but hopefully someone can confirm this.
