The Melbourne Story
Travel back in time and discover life in Melbourne since the 1830's through to present day Melbourne in Melbourne Museum's newest permanent exhibition. Explore Melbourne's rich history from early contact with Indigenous people to the discovery of gold, the stories from the laneways crowded with brothels and pubs, the political path of Federation through to what makes Melbourne today - discover what made this city boom. You'll be transported back in time through iconic objects, immersive experiences and multimedia exhibits recreating life in Melbourne since the 1830's. The Melbourne Story exhibition reveals key moments and major changes in Melbourne's history through key time periods and features more than 1200 collection objects from Museum Victoria's collection including a historic bark canoe from the Yarra River, a restored Cobb & Co coach, a carriage from the Luna Park Big Dipper and the much-loved 'Little Men' from the Coles Book Arcade.
