The Schönberg Ensemble
CONDUCTED BY REINBERT DE LEEUW A momentous musical occasion as one of the 20th century's most groundbreaking ensembles presents two distinct concerts at Hamer Hall.
Composer Reinbert de Leeuw formed The Schonberg Ensemble in 1974. It quickly gained a reputation as one of the most radical classical musical groups of the time, its repertoire centering on composers of the Second Viennese School such as Arnold Schonberg, Alban Berg and Anton Webern, great, innovative musicians whose music had largely been ignored until then. 34 years on and the internationally renowned Schonberg Ensemble remains true to its original repertoire but has expanded it to include works from the entire 20th and these early years of the 21st century.
