Cheap Mountain Bikes Melbourne

Cheap Mountain Bikes

I have owned a mountain bike for quite a few years. I even tried my hand at Mountain Bike racing (Cross Country) a few years back but I haven't done much pedaling the last year or so. I seem to come up with lots of good excuses! Anyway, I have been doing some searching lately because I have been thinking maybe if I had a new mountain bike I might be more motivated to ride it! So I started doing some searching on cheap mountain bikes. And I have mainly been looking in the Melbourne area. Though I know it is possible to get one by mail order these days!

Anyway, I remember I bought my current mountain bike from Gold Cross Cycles in Knox. They are still around and here is a link to their site:

If you know of any good stores that sell cheap mountain bikes then please let me know! By cheap I mean "discounted" not "cheap and nasty".

I'll second that request for discounted (what I like to call "affordable to someone who doesn't want so spend the amount to fix it that a new one would cost") mountain bikes. I prefer them because most mountain bikes here in the states are built to take rough roads with shock absorbers and I'm all about a soft ride.

The thing about modern mountain bikes which I find to be a bit odd, is that they have good shock absorbers but then they have a very hard seat! Give me some padding PLEASE!!!!! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':LMAO:' />

I'm very picky about my bike. I'm going to see what it would cost to have it shipped to me. I got it here VERY cheaply and the prices I've sen there for a comparable bike... I might as well buy a car.

And I agree about the seat - I spent more time shopping for that than the bike itself!
