Guest Posting Banned
#1
Hi guys,

I have had a particularly annoying spammer attacking the site today. I hope that this person does burn in the fiery depths of hell. Also, I hope their crap websites also burn in internet hell.

Due to the spammer, I have had to temporarily ban non-members (or "guests") from posting in the forum. Hopefully this person will reach the fate that awaits them sooner rather than later. Did I mention fiery depths of hell? oh yeah. I hope they get to their destination very soon!

Then we can put things back to normal.

And thank you for your patience. If you see any new links posted then probably best to not click on them!

Cheers, Glen

UPDATE: I turned Guest posting back on today. The forum software was updated to allow for the recent surge in spambots. However, the new implementation is not perfect and further updates will be made in the next day or so.

If you are a guest, you will unfortunately be given the choice of entering the CAPTCHA image in two boxes. However use the one on the right! Ignore the one on the left. And then everything should work fine.

See image below for explanation.

We got another very bad spammer attack last night and I am still trying to work out how to prevent this from happening again.

Thanks for you patience

Talking of putting the "hammer on the spammer"

Authorities shut down global spam ring

Quote:Authorities believe they have shut down one of the largest spam operations in the world which was being run out of Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

Over the past few years the spammers sent out billions of emails encouraging people to click through to websites which allegedly used false claims to sell prescription drugs, "male enhancement" products and weight loss pills.

Three New Zealand men are now facing fines of about $200,000 for their role in the spamming operation.

One of the men now lives in Queensland.

The trio has made a lot of money, according to Keith Manch from New Zealand's Internal Affairs.

"I think we've seen around $US2 million that's been going through accounts related to them," he said.

In total, authorities received more than 3 million complaints about the spam emails.
