Matter-Eater Lad (real name Tenzil Kem) is a superhero in the DC Universe. He is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes and possesses the power to eat matter in all forms, as do all natives of his home planet, Bismoll. He first appears in Adventure Comics #303, (December 1963).
J. Pennington Pennypacker was an average certified public accountant until he attended the Camp Runamuk self-esteem camp. The camp was actually a front for a crazed scientist who had invented a device that gave anyone it was used on superpowers. After the device was used on Pennypacker it apparently gave him the ability to "throw money" at his problems.
Pennypacker used his new found powers to help his fellow campers and NFL Superpro defeat their captors.
Due to an inferiority complex about the size of his, ahem, codpiece, he often interpreted comments against him in a negative light. Eventually he created a suit with a codpiece weapon system and became a supervillain. He primarily robbed banks.
He was eventually stopped when Coagula, who was wearing a frog mask due to not having a costume when she came across his crime spree, got him to lower his guard and used her powers to dissolve his codpiece multi-weapon.
One of our most modern entries on this list comes from the minds of Peter Milligan and Mike Allred in 2001, recent enough that they should have known better. At first, she doesnt sound so bad: Beckah Parker was a member of X-Force, and she had the ability to generate seismic waves. Not too shabby, right?
Wrong. Unfortunately for everyone ever, Parker could only generate seismic waves equal to her blood alcohol content level. Nothing like an abusive alcoholic superhero who sometimes gets plastered on missions and shoots earthquakes at her teammates, amirite? Im assuming her drink of choice was gin.
