Of course it would be easier to be in the country but I guess some companies may be prepared to do a phone interview. I would have thought most employers would prefer to meet you in person.

I live in Brisbane and would like to make the move to Melbourne, and even I am struggling with the 'not here to be interviewed immediately' factor that the first poster mentioned.
I guess in the end you have to know where to look and hope your skills and education are up to scratch to really have a shot at securing a Melbourne job without physically being in Melbourne. Also, it may help if you could say you have family living in Melbourne and that's why you want to move there and find work there.
Best Regards,
DF

Hi People,
Need help and advice getting a job in Australia I live in the cold/wet UK and have been looking for alternative ways to get settled in Australia, Melbourne.
I have around 11 years of the motor trade experience ie: Mechanic/panel beater/heavy to light accident repair and also been the IT arena for the last 12 years ie: Desktop/Network support 1st, 2nd, 3rd line support but amazingly still do not qualify under the points system, I have even thought about visiting Australia and finding a job which I have been told is the only option I have, I am currently 40 but still 21 at heart, work and play hard like most people.
I would appreciate any help or Recommendations.
Many Thanks
