That's it.... He was originally scheduled to return near the end of this year however, things are hotting up and his schedule is being almost continually re-drawn - with the latest, overtaking the end of the year.

btw

Guy
got that US contract due to a performance of his in late 2007 during the Vanguard gigs. Anyone who hasn't seen and heard him, give a shrug to the biased remarks of others.

He IS, as a critic remarked who finally saw him at The Bridge Hotel Sydney last year, "a genuine, rare talent" - just trust Steve and Duck and the others, he's up there with them. They didn't choose to align themselves with an also ran.

Your Melbourne critic who made it obvious he wasn't a Guy fan when he attend the shows last year labelled him as "Astonishing"

He's more than that. (His first live performances and radio interviews in New York caused an 'unprecedented' reaction)

Do you mean his album was ranked....? That would be The Memphis Album that was released in 2007.

I used to live in Melbourne and it's easy to hear nothing of Guy there unless you're specifically looking and getting alerts, like the one with this site addy on it. I'm always happy to do a bit of Guy promotion re Melbourne, so I jumped right in. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> The local journos there seem to make a point of ignoring him, despite him being the biggest selling male artist at the last ARIA awards. His album is shortly to be released in the US, but with changes to 'suit the US market'. Meaning some of the Australian release tracks will be replaced with tracks he recorded recently with the John Mayer band. Guy's in the US now, recording.

Anyway, I'll be back in Melbourne for an extended visit - nicely timed to take in the Guy shows. Yes, both shows. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

I have ... but unfortunately not on an Australian station. Funnily enough, while most Australian radio and the music industry and music snobs turned up their noses at an album of Memphis soul covers, an online station I listen to called allmemphismusic.com (which is actually located in Memphis) play all the tracks on the album on fairly high rotation and even did an hour special on it, they like it so much. It still sold triple platinum in Australia. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

He was also singing live on a New York Breakfast program a week or two back. Sounded fantastic. He's better known overseas than Australia realises, I think.

I can't say I'm missing the Melbourne weather. I'm south of Sydney now - nice climate. Never as hot as Sydney. Certainly not as hot as Melbourne.

I used to live in St Kilda. At least it always felt a bit better near the water. Where I am now, it rarely gets too hot. Usually a gorgeous sea breeze from the South Pacific kicks in before it reaches its predicted high - which is 28 tomorrow. If I'd been in Melbourne I would have been in an airconditioned hotel/motel by the second day of that big heat wave.

But I do love Melbourne. I didn't leave because I hated it. It was just more convenient for me to be up here for a while.
