Married Too Long?
#1
AFTER BEING MARRIED FOR 44 YEARS, I TOOK A CAREFUL LOOK AT MY WIFE ONE DAY AND SAID, "FORTY-FOUR YEARS AGO WE HAD A CHEAP APARTMENT, CHEAP CAR, SLEPT ON A SOFA BED AND WATCHED A 10-INCH BLACK AND WHITE TV, BUT I GOT TO SLEEP EVERY NIGHT WITH A HOT 25-YEAR-OLD GIRL".

"NOW I HAVE A $1,500,000.00 HOME, A $45,000.00 CAR, NICE BIG BED AND PLASMA SCREEN TV, BUT I'M SLEEPING

WITH A 69-YEAR-OLD WOMAN. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT YOU'RE NOT HOLDING UP YOUR SIDE OF THINGS."

MY WIFE IS A VERY REASONABLE WOMAN.

SHE TOLD ME TO GO OUT AND FIND A HOT 25-YEAR-OLD GIRL AND SHE WOULD MAKE SURE THAT I WOULD ONCE AGAIN BE LIVING IN A CHEAP APARTMENT, DRIVING A CHEAP CAR, SLEEPING ON A SOFA BED AND WATCHING A 10-INCH BLACK AND WHITE TV.

Best Wishes.

Is the husband in this story still hot?

No, I meant at the time that he expected his wife to be hot, forty years later.

Sorry, I'm ruining the joke. Disregard my comments.

My question is about your ability to stand being married for 47 years <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

Congratulations <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Applause.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

Hi Peter <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rainbow:' />

Well, I could say that the next big enterprise in my life is to relocate to Australia. I love Melbourne very much as I already have been there twice so far. And, yes, I would gladly apply for a post in the country if this would mean getting a job.

In reference to the search of a husband....mmmmm <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' /> ..... It certainly isn't my first objective, though having someone you can trust and rely on , especially in a foreigh country, I think would not be bad. Bu I wouldn't do it on purpose. I think a bad marriage - or a bad relationship - is not something very negative in our life, and we'd better avoid it..... I would like to have someone waiting for me, however.... on certain conditions, of course. No, I'm not married. I was a long time ago. I got divorced in 1994, and after that I did everything I hadn't been able to before. I have a 24 year old son now. Certainly I couldn't imagine standing a marriage like mine for 47 years, though <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

It's a pleasure to hear from you

Well a big thanks!

I see you have added me as a friend to you! Yikes!

That is the first time for me!

What does it mean? How do I respond? I'm not sure?

I shall have to look through the rules and stuff.

I know why you like Melbourne after two visits?

I'm sure every Greek person has a cousin who lives here.

I went to Greece many years ago. 1984, the Olympic Games was just a glint in the Athen's eye!

What about your son? Is he tempted to travel with you?

Sad that your marriage failed, and you are right one cannot "stand" in a marriage for 47 years without the right mate.

Well anyway who knows what is in store for you in Australia?

The man of your dreams could be awaiting you in one of the charming country towns:

Castlemaine.

Bendigo.

Ballarat. Etc ......

Best wishes.

Hi Peter <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rainbow:' />

You are welcome. Well, I have no relatives in Melbourne, no matter how big the greek population there is. I worked for Olympic Airways a few years ago and long flights were not big deal for me as you can realize. Not as far as money is concerned at least. And I fell in love in an Australian man at the time which was the reason of my journeys. No matter if the love story didn't have a happy end, I am grateful that it was the cause to get to know your beautiful country. I have done all my studies with British universities. I like the Anglo-saxon way of thinking and organizing things. I adore England but I couldn't stand living there for long. The weather conditions are terrible. Australia has the pros of England - the organization - without the cons - the miserable climate.

My son works here and isn't thinking of changing this, which in my opinion is a foolish attitude. The only companion I'm going to have in my relocation is Oliver - my rabbit <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cat.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

But he doesn't know yet. What is important for me, however, is to find a sponsored job in my field. Everything else depends on that.

Thank you for caring

friendly regards

Hi Peter <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I was not an air hostess. In fact I was ground staff. I started my work in Olympic in August 1999, at the end of my BSc and 2 months after I had started my supervised training in the Psychiatric Dept. of a big State General Hospital in Athens. Every morning I had to go to the hospital, and then directly to the airport for work - after a good break for lunch of course. I was in the hospital from 9-1.30 wearing the white blouse of the doctor and then from 4pm-midnight at the airport, wearing the blue uniform of Olympic. I left home at 8am and came back at 1am. The most important is that I had become a kind of schizoid personality. A health practitioner during the first half of the day and an airline employ with access to travel all over the world if so she wished during the 2nd half of the day <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> . And all these after the mature age of 38. But it was great experience.

Regarding my rabbit, yes, I assume there is a stardard procedure to emigrate to Australia <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' /> . Which I haven't asked about yes, as there are other things I have to tackle first, anyway.

How is the problem with your ear? Are you feeling any better?

I hope to hear from you

friendly regards

Hi Peter <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

I'm glad to hear that you are fine now. Shar moves need attention, in general. So be careful <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> .

Now, regarding my training and my work simultaneously.... mm...... from August 1999 - April 2001. With some short breaks in the middle from work at the airport , as my work was according to 8 month contracts. However, in September 2001 I started my MSc by Distance Learning with Leiceste university. So I had my studies for the MSc + my job in Olympic and from February 2002 + more supervised training in the Drug Unit of the State Mental Hospital of Athens twice a week, where I was officially in July 2006 and where I work. It was relevant to my MSc and a good opportunity to have access to employment in my field later on as it did happen in the end. In genera, I like doing things, useful, meaningful thing, I mean.

Well, it's 3.45 pm and just came back from work. I have to go to the kitchen to check whether my ntolmades in the oven are ready.

Have a good night

Hi Peter,

I've never understood why people who live (or stay) nea a beach could swim in a pool. It's like as if your have a plantation of silk and you prefer wearing nylon clothes to silken ones <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Even here, in wonderful hotels next to the beach and the blue Aegean sea on

islands, I see people swimming in pools.... with that smell.

No, about my ntolmades I found this recipe on the net. It is about ntolmades. Apart from giving instructions how to cook them, she explains what ntolmades are, which I found interesting. Keep something in mind. The particular recipe is with grape leaves. My mom and my grandmother used to make nice ntolmades with grape leaves. I like them more with cabbage leaves and pork mince meat. But this is just my opinion. You can taste them both ways. Another variety, which is a good idea especially for the period of fasting, is with grape leaves but no meat at all. Only rice. It's vey nice too.

I attach the link so you can find them

Greek Recipes with May Lerios: Dolmadakia or Dolmades

I would suggest you'd try cooking them and I'll be there for dolmades lunch.

Good luck with the dolmades

Best regards
