Hi All
#1
hey everyone,

Just saying hi, I've lived in Melbourne pretty much my whole life, just want to connect a little, I'm feeling the community spirit =)

Um, a little about me.. I work as an ambo, drive a subaru and love to talk about anything!

Hope to get to know you all a little,

Cheers

I happily drive a Subaru Impreza.

You are correct Peter, I have never heard of a Subaru Leone.

My vehicular tastes have only shifted toward a Subaru since their shape has changed quite dramatically.

A Subaru's all wheel drive is a very pleasant experience and being able to brag about having a Boxer engine is quite ego stroking too.

The badge is also nice, even though not technically the southern cross, the badge appears to be our national symbol to those not so esoterically minded.

Best wishes.

Nope, they had the Pleiades in mind.

I seem to remember the "Leone" from the mid-late 80's...

I think it was a 1.8 litre and there was a turbo option as well...

I am loving that this became a car thread! I've always had suby's, just bought a brand new RS hatch - sexy little thing and i'm loving the AWD cornering! I have big ideas for this car, mainly cosmetic.. but everything costs so much these days.

Being an ambo is great, something new every day.. excellent for my tiny attention span - but i'm a little afraid of working nights in the inner city also, i stay safe in my south-eastern suburbs =). And i'm young (early 20's), fit and female =)

thanks for all the replies and welcomes guys

cheers!

I bought mine December last year, a brand new RX sedan with tailpipe covers and floor mats, such brilliant cars.

My fantasy car at the minute is a WRX sedan only 'cause the STi does not come in a sedan... how much would you just love to own an STi?

i would severely injure someone for an STi! (kidding) yea, i have always thought my car could do with just a touch more power, an STi would be amazing.. why didn't you get one?

i've seen that vid, it's brillliant - love the part around the guy on the segway - precision!!

hey, when u bought yours, did you get a subaru driving course as part of the deal? i think i missed out..

I like having money to save and spend... 'cause an STi, if even affordable, would send me to the poor house. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yeah, the segway manoeuvre is certainly top notch!!

Nope, no driving course either... though a few adrenaline rally courses have caught my eye in the past, particularly...

...but I always manage to talk myself out of taking part.

aah the strike... its not so much a walk-out strike as a "let's just be really annoying to the company" kinda strike. So we're not gonna fill out patient's billing details, do paperwork properly, do overtime.. etc
Thanks for the tip about support groups for us poor Pulsar owners.

I've been to a couple of meetings, normally strong guys sit around sipping TEA and weeping a lot!

Peter J.
may I suggest peppermint tea? works for me during tough times.. =P
Anyway what if I keel over on your patch will you give me the kiss of life? Yes?

I promise not to put up a fight!

Peter J.
not in my job description!

and to keep fit, i tend to pull b-double trucks around behind me where-ever i go, you'd be amazed how many calories that burns.

yes, this is very true.

i'm considering calling up the dealership and making sure i wasn't jibbed on that course, it sounds good!

oh wow that rally course looks much better than the one i was considering - just on a normal track but your choice of STi, v8 holden or evo..

this one looks great!

i did a defensive driving course - it was really boring, and u use your own car so any damage to it and its on you.. i imagine those rally cars get damaged quite often.

Consider 10 k runs, a lot easier on the back <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yeah, the rally cars probably do get damaged a bit... insurance must be harsh.

The most recent available booking is in September... The process of applying to the ADF (RAAF ATCO) does not allow me to book that far ahead as, though highly doubtful at my age, I might actually get in, otherwise I would have booked.

Yeah, very exciting but little detail at the minute... waiting on a response from the ADF after having recently forwarding additionally requested documents, I am looking at getting an academic exemption (1992 class modules are different to current ADF expectations) and do an ATCO (Air Traffic Controller) specific entrance test if need be (already blitz the regular ADF psychometric test). I should also blitz the fitness requirements since I can run 10 km in under an hour without being puffed and nearing a 6 minute mile (still a ways off though). I have waited a long while for the ADF to contact me since first applying so I figure they are really scrapping the bottom of the applications barrel (likely due to my age) and for that reason do not have my hopes high. Still... nice to dream.

Are you going to go rally driving with Adrenaline?
