Extended Families Australia is looking for people to give children with a disability and their families an opportunity to develop a loving and caring âgrandparentâ or âextended familyâ relationship with a supportive volunteer.
This special relationship provides the child with a sense of identity and assists in extending their social and emotional development. It also ensures that the child and family are more linked to and supported in the community, reducing the sense of isolation.
Extended families is a not-for-profit incorporated association that provides support, respite, significant social relationships and community participation for children with disabilities and their families. We operate across most of melbourne. All our volunteers are trained and supported by regional coordinators.
