Help ! Wanted Name Of Band !
#1
Hi !

I was working out in the gym the other day and heard a song on the radio which was a throwback to the 60's psychedelic era and the song actually looked like it was inspired from Pink Floyd songs such as Saucerful of secrets, One of these days and Interstellar overdrive. I think it was around 10 min long and I sat there thinking this is great stuff. Im a die hard Pink Floyd fan and these guys reminded me so much of Floyd. Now the problem is I dont know the name of the band ! But I do recall the RJ saying that the band was from Melbourne (or maybe they were performing there) and something Technicolor was also mentioned. Now all you good people out here please help me to find the name of this band, I will be very much greatful !

Cheers !

I might be able to find that out if you can tell me what radio station it was on and when it was played.

There was an Oz band called "Buffalo" who sounded similar to your descriptions.

I wonder if this is the guy. He has a 9 minute song. I am no pink floyd fan so not sure if it sounds the same or not but the page says it like pink floyd. And he is australian.

The 9 minute song is called "Dickhead in a G string". Quite thought provoking stuff! hahaha

Yep, that's the one - although I personally wouldn't call it "heavy metal" as in that article - more like "Hard Rock Blues".

The late and great Pete Wells went onto "Rose Tattoo" and Dave Tice went semi solo with various band names with a tendency towards Rock and Blues - A fine act indeed.

The only radio stations I know of that would still be playing that would be Community stations - and even then it would most likely be off the CRN Satellite overnight service - hence my question about what time it was played on the radio <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />

The only late 60's song I can remember (at this time of night) with "Technicolor" was from Status Quo

Floydboy got an obvious problem. There are to many bands doing avant-guard-stuff that could fit ANY description. There was a melbourneband named sleepmakeswaves that did not sound like them at all. But would have been put on the same free-form experimental shelf. Ask the gym. They should know.
