Can Someone Transition From A Warm Spot To Melbourne?

Hi,

My name is Lauren and i'm from socal currently studying in Sydney. I grew up in the sunshine with no real extremes. I visited Melbourne in the winter so I know how crazy cold it is but can someone who was born in a warm weather spot get used to the weather? Some have told me it's pretty cold year round with just a few nice days...is this true ? Thanks

Yeah I am hoping prices fall but around 90% hehehe
