New To Melbourne

My friend and I are planning on moving to Melbourne, but do not know much about it. Could anyone provide what areas of town are fun to live in/safe/cheap? I am a 24 year old female and would like to live where similar aged people are and obviously as cheap as possible as I am still young and will probably be renting while there. Thanks!!

there is no place that is fun and cheap as far as i know. at least not by popular standards of what is meant by "fun".



however if you consider it fun to live in the country or the outskirts of the city then there are plenty of cheap places!!! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



you can always share a room in a house. that is usually fairly cheap in most places.
