Where To Get Cheapest Groceries?
#1
Hi, I recently moved to Melbourne Caulfield and I was wondering where is the cheapest area for groceries. The only supermarket nearby is Coles which isn't very price friendly. I've been to Chadstone which seems to have a much larger variety but I didn't see any cheaper prices at their butchers, do they have a huge discount near closing time?

I've been to Victoria market and stuff is quite cheap especially near closing time, is this the same on the weekends because I'm not sure my 3 hour ticket will last.

I plan to shop once a month mostly for red meats, cheese, veg and about 7 dozen eggs , cheapest I saw was 1.99 for a dozen at Chadstone.

I've browsed coles, safeway and aldi but I haven't found any of them stocking long life heavy cream.

I'm a student so I need to get stuff on the cheap and better yet if it doesn't take up fridge space.

if aldi is not stocking the products you are after then maybe try the market at oakleigh. i think it opens in the mornings on saturday.

So what would be the cheapest+nearest place from Caulfield? An NQR outlet, vic mart or chadstone grocers?

There was some NQR-ish shop on warrigal rd near the holmesglen tafe but last time i drove past it had a "closing down" sign. Though that could just be a marketing trick. Not sure.

I think Oakleigh market on saturday morning would be your best bet for vegies.

Have you considered the Prahran or Camberwell markets? <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/emoticon_rainbow.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />
