Hello, New Member

Hello forumers.

I'm new here, this is my first post.

As my name indicates, I'm South Australian, however, I have been living in Melbourne since 2000, a whole decade now, and I have no intentions of ever leaving Melbourne because I love living here. I lived in Adelaide until I was 24, then moved to Sydney for a year in 1998 and then London for a year in 1999, came back to Adelaide for a few months before moving here in 2000. It was only ever going to be a trial like Sydney and London, but as I said, I love Melbourne so I am here for good.

In the time I've been here, I've established a career, married a Victorian girl and together we have a Victorian born son who turns 18 months tomorrow. I also have a mortgage, so as you can see, I'm pretty entrenched in Melbourne. I try to get back to Adelaide about three or four times a year, mainly at Easter and Christmas, because my folks and brothers still live there and of course the mighty Crows play their home games there.

When I'm not at work, my hobbies include playing with my son, AFL (Crows), soccer (Melbourne Victory), playing Wii, dining out with my wife and of course Marvellous Melbourne, hence the reason for me joining this site.

Anyhow, enough about me.

Cheers.

There are not many SA people who actually like Melbourne!

I'm pleased there is at least one!

I like Adelaide and that almost every street has it's own church.

Weather is too hot I like it cooler. Actually I should move to Hobart.

I hope you can slot into some of the threads. It's not all serious.

Speaking of the Crows, well it's hard to believe but for a Melbourne based forum I have not seen anyone on board admit to any team.

Me! I used to follow Fitzroy, but since they moved north I don't follow anyone at all.

I just try to keep up with who wins and looses for general conversation.
Hi Peter thanks for your reply. I think deep down most South Aussies like Melbourne, they just won't admit it. I think it stems from the AFL rivallry and of course Melbourne taking the grand prix from Adelaide only added fuel to the fire. Today it is ingrained into SA people to dislike Victoria. It's a love-hate relationship that the people over there have for Victorians. And because it is ingrained, it won't be going away any time soon. But deep down, there is that belief that Melbourne is something Adeliade could model itself on in terms of the arts, archictecture, sports etc. Like I said, they just won't admit it.

Just on Fitzroy, I see they are going to court to get an injunction to stop Brisbane altering the Lion emblem used by Fitzroy. It's funny because I thought the two had merged. One of the general principles of law is that you cannot sue yourself. If Fitzroy and Brisbane did merge, then how can Fitzroy sue as they would be suing themself? Well that's my take on it.

And Glen, thanks for the welcome.

Good point about the Lions and the emblems. I have no idea what the problem is.

Both lots seem to be nitpicking.

The Fitzroy Football Club still seems to exist in Melbourne.

It has several teams I believe.

Adeladians probably have a good reason to dislike Melbournians, but note the dislike is only one way!
It's funny because my Victorian born and bred wife and my Victorian friends pay me out because I'm South Australian. However when I go to Adelaide, my friends there pay me out because they say I'm Victorian.

I can't win.

Hey that's good way to boost your post count!

Anyway I saw in today's The Age a pic of the Lion.

In one pic it had full face and paw on the ball, against a profile and paw not on the ball. Or visa versa.

Which one is which I have no idea!

Hey a Victorian or a South Aussie! Are we not all equal? Just where are the PC Police when they are needed?
Hi Peter how's your long weekend going?

Was going to go for dinner tonight to an Indian restaurant on Hight Street in Armadale but the weather warnings scared me off. In the end the rain wasn't as bad as yesterday, but I didn't mind, I got to watch the Melbourne Victory beat Sydney. Very sweet.

That Lion pic you saw is more prominent, it's bigger and it looks at you. I don't mind it, but I can understand why the old Fitzroy fans would be upset.

Regarding the Lions logo, I can now tell which is which!

Weekend now over.

Went to see my G son play for Bulleen U12 A side.

They won easily and he had a good match.
What position does he play?
