Glen and Peter as you can see all my songs are show tunes. Its the only music I like. Well that's not exactly true I love Antony and the Johnsons.

I would love to know some of yours.

Just guessing.. Glen likes modern contemp/soul/funk

Peter blues/ peggy lee

what lovely choices especially cole porter
Hello Peter.

Well, "Is that all there is?".

I cannot remember what song that come from.

Anyway in popular music I believe that the best singer songwriter was/is Neil Diamond.

So many great hits.

Perhaps only beaten by the ABBA boys.

But the 20s and 30s produced the best ever pure song writers.

George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter and heaps more.

Every age to it's own, however to make a choice of the best one must first hear them all.
Peter don't get me on South Pacific I could talk all day about it. Every song is a winner. I love that song but I guess my favourite is "you've got to be carefully taught". They nearly cut it from the show but Rogers and Hammerstein fought it. It is a song sadly as relevant today as it was back then. In those days it was considered too confronting.

The show was a vehicle for Mary Martin and unfortunately they didn't think she was much of a movie name and a little old for the movie. Although Mitzi Gaynor was great as a buff of shows I guess I regret we never saw Martin. Here in Australia it was a monumental hit for JCW.

Its a great show.

And yes "this nearly was mine" is beautiful.
