What gives?

Since when did it become the "norm" to say "October 1" instead of "the 1st of October"?

Another yank idea filtered into Australia?

Really how hard is it to say or write it the correct way (the title stuffed the capitals up)?

Rant over...

Us conservatives still say "the 1st of October"

I guess it's not confusing so little damage is done.

I find a problem with american expression of the date - month first then day then year - ie for the above date they write 10.01.2015 particularly if the date is 28 January say which is 01.28.2015.

But then again I suppose that's consistent with  January 28

Where did the "trend" come from then?

I find it quite annoying...

Confusing they are.

Same problem with the cricket. I've always preferred 2/101 but we're the only ones who do it.

2 for 110 is emphasising fielding - or defence.

110 for two emphasises batting or attack.

It's at least understandable
