Negative Calorie Foods
#1
Hi guys, I am interested in compiling a list of negative calorie foods. I mean foods that take energy to eat and thereby allow me to lose weight and become mr skinny!

I hear that celery fits the bill.

Are there any other ones?

Cheers, Glen

Oh oh! bad news! Water is the only one to work?

Quote:Water is the only thing that, when cold, uses up calories instead of giving them.

Bad news about celery (but not very bad):

Quote:Celery is about 95 per cent water, 2.2 per cent digestible carbohydrates and 1.8 per cent indigestible carbohydrates. There are also insignificant amounts of protein and fat.

The digestible carbs in 100 grams of celery will give you 32 kilojoules, while the indigestible carbs will give you 16 kilojoules. And the energy needed to process all these carbs will be about 4 kilojoules — which leaves you with about 44 kilojoules. That's a small number, but definitely not a negative number. So you do get a few calories or kilojoules from eating celery.

Ain't that an oxymoron. I would've thought that something needs to be digested in order to provide energy for the body.

I probably should've quoted where i got my information on celery... might have been ask yahoo or something similarly unreliable and unscientific.

On the subject of Astronauts, i watched a bizarre movie just yesterday... a movie titled "Moon" starring Sam Rockwell. Has anybody had the pleasure/pain?
