The New Smart Meters.
#1
Hello All.

What about these nice new “Smart Meters” that we are forced to pay for?

The truth has emerged.

In the Herald Sun a day or so ago was an article explaining how very altruistic are our kind energy suppliers.

Here was a woman of limited means extolling how kind the electricity supplier was for “limiting” the amount of electricity she could consume in her house.

As she can afford only a small number of dollars, so the energy company restricted the flow of electricity to match the dollars.

I guess in her case a few lights and the fridge.

The plus for her was that she was removed from the temptation to use up big, not be able to pay and thus risk a disconnection.

All well and good.

But . . .

It shows that the energy supplier can remotely restrict energy flow through the meter to your house.

Picture this:

Next year the desal plant comes on line.

It consumes huge amounts of energy.

No one has explained where this energy is coming from.

Brumby is going to close down the worst polluting power station, but no replacement.

(Oh spare me the BS about solar/wind/tidal/dung/whatever replacement).

So when high Summer strikes and supply exceeds demand we will be slugged huge dollars for the precious commodity and/or it will be throttled back via these nice new save you money meters.

You won’t have a say or choice, unless you happen to live in Brumby land.

Brumby is going to close down the worst polluting power station, but no replacement.

How is that even possible, Peter? Don't we already have enough trouble keeping up with all the air conditioners during summer?

Are you sure there are no replacements, perhaps the existing plants are expected to increase the production of energy.

Even if there is a replacement it surely will still be coal fired. Perhaps using better technology.

Someone has suggested that the giant aluminum plant in South Aus should be closed down.

This will release just about the right amount of energy to run the desal plant here in Vic.

Is that a good idea?

If we suddenly go to war with China then we would have to say: "Hang on Chinese can we please have some aluminum for our defense forces?"
That alleged "clean" coal is on the agenda, Peter.

Who knows, a war with China would be pretty full on.

Times like these, Peter, all i do is hope that the powers that be have our best interests at heart, as they are mandated to.

Hey guys!

Hi Peter - I was hoping dung power involved dung beetles! You know they can roll large dung balls around that weigh much more than them. So I think they would be well suited to turning mini turbines! hahah <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/gathering.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':gathering:' />

So who is getting the $2 billion for the smart meters? I think I should try and get a job with them! hahaha

Surely there must be a profit margin Peter!!!
