Hi guys,
I was wondering whether any of our Chinese Melbchat members would know where I could download the Chinese New Year Festival TV Show on CCTV? It was on last night and we tried to watch it from the CCTV website plus also via ppstream but it was too slow so we gave up. I believe the Chinese New Year program is called the "2011 Spring Festival Gala" on CCTV.
It is interesting that there are legit programs that uses P2P technology to let you watch Chinese TV shows via streaming. But as the programs have a Chinese interface (and I can't read chinese) I could not set them up properly. I think there was some firewall problem.
One of the programs we tried to use last night is called ppstream. - http://www.ppstream.com/
A chinese guy was raving about it but I could not set it up to give smooth TV. Though he assured me that the more people that watched the program the faster the streaming would be.
There is another streaming option for CCTV here - http://english.cntv.cn/live/p2p/ (was also too slow last night).
