i used to see quite a few tiger snakes in the highlands of tasmania where i used to go for fishing holidays. i had a tiger snake that tried to bite me once as i almost stepped on it but that was in a swamp area so the snake did not feel my footsteps as i approached. that is a very unsual place to be! i don't suppose you intend to tramp around in swamps like me!!!
if the ground is firm, the vibration of your footsteps travels much further and the snake will almost always run and hide before you even get to see them <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
