Yikes! Moving To Melbourne In 6 Weeks - trackman - 18-06-2012

Greetings!

I am moving to Melbourne in 6 weeks, and would love to make a contact (email) before I move. I have lots of questions, and I am a little nervous. Questions like: visas? what suburbs to look for? where should I go for swimming/biking/running? and just general questions about the culture so that I can transition well. Thank you!

Wes

Hi Wes,

Not sure if I can assist you with Visas. It might be best to check with immigration and customs and all that. Are you intending to work while you are here? Or holiday?

In regards to accommodation, what can you afford? Renting in Melbourne is like around $150 -$400 a week depending on where you are living.

Western and Northern Suburbs are the more affordable. Places heading towards the city get more expensive.

The beaches on the Bayside are pretty good - anything like Brighton Beach is lovely and heading towards Frankston and the Morning Peninsula. There are heaps of leisure centres that offer swimming but it is winter so not sure if you would like to do that.
