Australian Grand Prix 2007 - Webber sees red

From 15 – 18 March 2007, the FORMULA 1™ ING Australian Grand Prix will return to Albert Park as the opening round of the FIA Formula One World Championship. The first race of the season is always a great event because new cars, engines and drivers abound.

Australia's Mark Webber is set to race Formula 1 for the first time with Red Bull Racing. This is sure to excite local fans.

The FORMULA 1™ ING Australian Grand Prix is one of Australia's biggest sporting events. The event extends over several days and offers an action-packed festival of on-track and off-track activities for people of all ages.

The race is held in Albert Park and there are magnificent views of the Melbourne skyline.

For the first time in 2007, the newest and most exciting racing category - the Aussie Racing Cars – will race at Albert Park. The specially designed race cars are designed and custom-built in Australia by a veteran racer named Phil Ward. The cars are technically identical cars. Each car is about three quarters the size of a normal road car, which makes overtaking a lot easier.

"Traction" will return in 2007. The massive 'party under the palms' is aimed at 25 – 35 year olds who like to party and will feature a range of popular bands, together with some top DJs.

The "GP Expo" will see more than 15 different exhibitors providing autographed collectables and gift ideas, as well as displays showcasing the latest in motor trade developments.

"The F1 Experience" will return in 2007 with F1 Simulators, interactive displays, grid girls and a range of live performances.

The "Auto Salon Display" will be the place to see low riding custom cars with sensational paint jobs and the latest sound systems.

"The Palms" is a brand new entertainment area for 2007. It will include exciting interactive displays and hair-raising rides.

Positioned in the main Paddock area, the "Autograph Stage" will feature F1 and international drivers, Celebrity Challenge competitors, TV personalities as well as other national category drivers making regular appearances.
