Hi everyone, my favourite hobby is fishing! I like it because it gets me out in the great outdoors and I enjoy the excitement of never knowing what will nibble on my line!

What is your favourite hobby? Why is it your favourite? <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

My favorite hobby is dancing. I find it entertaining and it's a stress reliever for me. It is also a good exercise.

Your Favourite Hobby - MsMixte - 08-03-2007

I ride bicycles and keep them in good repair.

I grow orchids.

I go birdwatching.

I do a lot of reading about various subjects...

And I travel!

That's enough to keep me quite busy.

My favorite hobby is finding new hobbies. Every so often, I think "I don't do anything new anymore" and I run find something new.

Yes, my house is full of all kinds of random crap. Why do you ask?

Your Favourite Hobby - glen - 18-03-2007

so why is your house full of crap then? <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> lol

and what was the latest hobby your "hobby investigations" have uncovered? <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I get all kinds of stuff related to the hobby, and then I lose interest.

I got this wild idea that I could start my own business selling things on eBay, so I went out on this rampage of locating wholesale places that could sell me good products cheap. Eventually, I came across a site that had a pot-luck box of 100 pocketknives on sale, so I bought it. Now I have a box of 100 knives, and suddenly I realise that I need to take pictures of all of them, and write descriptions, and put up auctions... what a pain in the ###! So they're just sitting here. Anyone in the market for a good pocketknife?

Okay, maybe "good" is stretching it a bit.

All right, they suck, I got ripped off.

Now I've got this wild idea for a different business. And I'm building up a list of t-shirt and bumper sticker slogans for an online store. And I'm taking artist applications for a web comic I want to start back up. And I just started a forum dedicated to an old BBS door game I used to play. And meanwhile, my contract at work is up in three weeks, so I need to find another job.

So it's just go, go, go and fail, fail, fail over here. But at least I'm keeping busy. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Well, you do know what almost every big success has in common, don't you?

A big list of failures before they got it right!

I'm halfway there!

Your Favourite Hobby - glen - 21-03-2007

Hmmm....tough question!

I must admit i like pottering around in the garden! Nothing better the putting the hard work in to see the results in the summer!

My favourite hobby is Webdesign. I have been making websites and forums since 1999, and currently have about 4 currently running; only wish I had enough time to give the same amount of time on each site!

The thing I like the most about it is the sense of achievement I get from seeing the end result, especially when forums take off. A couple of my sites have spawned really close knit offline friendships now, and that makes it all worthwhile <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Your Favourite Hobby - glen - 03-04-2007

hi dreamer. i have been making forums for about the same length of time as you. i agree its good fun and quite rewarding.

my main site (going for about 7 years now) is a fishing forum. i decided to set up this melbourne-based forum recently because i think melbourne really needed a central meeting place online <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

plus i am learning that a lot of people from overseas are really keen to learn more about the place. especially if they are planning holidays etc.

cheers, glen

Your Favourite Hobby - livewirerules - 10-05-2007

Your Favourite Hobby - glen - 10-05-2007

hi live wire, what is a "core" race? <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Your Favourite Hobby - hugodiaz - 28-06-2007

Well Glen, I don't have the patience for fishing. Actually, I do, but I just don't enjoy sitting down and waiting.

What I really like is playing football(soccer); goodness, it's so confusing as to what to call it these days.

Anyway, I guess I could also say that using the internet is a major hobby of mine.

Your Favourite Hobby - Guest - 24-05-2009
