The best way to have a happy married life is for both of you to suffer catastrophic brain damage that leaves you profoundly retarded.

Some people would say this had to happen before you got married. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Seriously, your married life will have its ups and downs. You won't always be happy with your spouse, and vice versa. The most important thing is to remember at all times why you're with this person and not someone else. My wife and I yell and scream at each other frequently, but we always remember why we're together. Part of it's the fact that we can yell and scream at one another and still remember that.

Occasionally, do nice things for your spouse without any reason at all. Just stop and pick up a card, or some flowers, or something. Make your spouse part of every thought you have and every decision you make; you don't have to call up and commisserate, but before you say "extra onions" at the hot dog stand, think about whether your spouse might appreciate you saying "no onions" instead. Over time, you'll make your spouse happy just as a matter of habit. Ideally, your spouse will do the same.

Always sort [problems out at the time. Never let arguements or concerns last into other days. Always try to sort them before you go to bed. The other thing for you both to remember is that you will argue and row. That is perfectly normal and doesn't mean you have to go your seperate ways.

I wish I had a pound or dollar for everytime we have had an arguement!

Adjustment,Acceptance & Understanding are three key things to keep going in marriage. All efforts in the beginning of the marriage pays off.All fights and arguments get couples more closer,if they spend time to understand the hidden reasons.'Patience' is virtue. There is no point to split or divorce unless there is danger to life or unfaithful partner. No human being is perfect. Every one has both good and bad sides to them.Don't try to change people as they wouldn't like it.They want to be accepted as they are.Although we can make them understand situations and circumstances for better with love being a friend not a dictator.Love and you will be loved.Accept and you will be accepted.Understand you will be understood. It might take time.It will all be sorted eventually.I have experienced these things with my husband. My efforts are now paying off.We are still learning about each other and things seem better and better. ALL THE BEST! :-) Best Book to read is "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus"
