I wonder how many people know about mediatheque at ACMI at Federation Square. I must admit part of me does want to keep this wondrous place a secret but ok the cats out of the bag. Peter blabbermouth!

OK if you have a couple of hours to spare waiting for a meeting or what ever pop into this place of wonder.

Here you get your ear phones, settle down with a friend or alone in two incredibly comfortable soft roomy seats in a cubical. Put on your heard phones and touch the screen. So many wonderful films you can see its astonishing.

Even early Australian feature films. I watched Ken G Halls almost forgotten classic Orphan of the Wilderness made in about 1936. It was brilliant..the black and white photography is still beautiful about an orphaned joey and his adventures including cruelty. You will never eat kangaroo again. Not that I would eat my coat of arms symbols...I think its unAustralian and repugnant. But thats another issue.

It is so moving I am glad I had the privacy of my spaciopus cubicle because I sobbed like an idiot lol.

After that I watched remarkable real footage of St Klda beach 100 hundred years ago.

So ACMI always has something on. Do visit mediatheque its a secret gem.

Coming soon we will have the Hollywood costume exhibition and I just saw the Queer Film Festival.

So visitors to Melbourne do visit ACMI Australian centre for moving image. Fed Square was most controversial when it was first created but thats mostly changed now. Its the life blood of our beautiful city.

As for the architecture well opinion will always probably be divided, however there has been a huge swing towards it. Older folk still look baffled lol.. But thats part of its charm.
