Finding Irish Family - jimfin - 05-08-2008

Hi All

I'm living in Ireland and am trying to trace an Uncle and his family.

The names were Pat and Marjorie O'Connell. They lived in Monkstown just south of Dublin, Ireland and they had 7 daughters. They emigrated to Melbourne in about 1965-66.

I would think that Pat and Marjorie have pasted on.

As all their family were daughters they would change their names if they got married, so it is harder to track them down.

If anyone can help me, or point me in the right direction for more help I would be greatfull.

Al the best from Ireland.

Hi Jim,

the surname O'Connell is fairly common so it will not be easy to track them down.

the starting point would be the http://www.whitepages.com.au

after that there is registers of births deaths and marriages. I am guessing maybe the death certificates would say the names of the kids but I have no idea really. Do you know if they stayed in melbourne?

The local register is here: https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/home

If I were you, I would chase Marjorie as it is a less common name. Should be easier to obtain her info.

Hope that helps get you started,

Cheers, Glen

If you have specific address and Real names....Pictures are also fine....maybe there are still adults alive in their neighbor and you may ask them. Where and whom O'Connell's daughter married to whom.

I f you have picture of the family much better.
