Cakes Melbourne - glen - 05-08-2009 Hey guys, I am looking to buy a cake for a special occasion and was wondering if anyone can recommend one for me. Some thing impressive but cheap if possible! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Here are some in the Melbourne CBD. But I have no idea if they are good (or cheap): Melbourne Cakes & Pastry Shops The Cheesecake Shop 221 Queen St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9602 2466 Cocktail Cupcakes Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: 0407 556 948 Cupcakes - Love at First Bite Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: 0407 556 948 Dolcetti 223 Victoria St West Melbourne VIC 3003 ph: (03) 9328 1688 Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses Pty Ltd Victoria Market, Dairy Produce Hall, Elizabeth St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9329 6792 International Diethnes Cakes 185 Lonsdale St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9663 2092 Laurent Bakery Pty Ltd 306 Little Collins St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9654 1011 Le Croissant Connection 260 Collins St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9650 3080 Le Croissant Des Halles 507 Elizabeth St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9328 4752 Love at First Bite - Cupcakes Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: 0407 556 948 Maxim's Cake & Pastry 173 Lt Bourke St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9662 1980 Michel's Patisserie 600 Bourke Place Food Court Cnr King & Bourke St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9600 0094 Muffin Top 1A/ Hub Arcade, 318 Little Collins St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9654 4558 Walker's Doughnuts Shop 9, 2 - 26 Elizabeth St Melbourne VIC 3000 ph: (03) 9662 2254 Cakes Melbourne - glen - 05-08-2009 I did some more searching and started looking for melbourne cake factory outlets. I found this one. I think they are pretty good but a bit far away (I am in the south east suburbs): Sara Lee Bakery Heidelberg Shop 26, The Bell Street Mall Cnr Bell Street & Oriel Road 03 9458 3785 Werribee Shop 1, 167-179 Shaws Road, Werribee Village 03 8742 6509 http://www.saraleebakery.com.au Cakes Melbourne - KateM12 - 15-08-2009 Hi Glen <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rainbow:' /> Unfortunately I can't help you with your query as I don't live in Melbourne (unfortunately <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ) but by reading your message I was overwhelmed by nostalgia. I remember when I was in Melbourne, I bought some wonderful cheese pies from a bakery in Balaclava str. in St Kilda where I stayed. These chese pies reminded me of those of my grandmother's a long time ago. regards Kate <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Cakes Melbourne - glen - 16-08-2009 Emmm pies! Now you got me hungry! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rainbow:' /> Cakes Melbourne - KateM12 - 16-08-2009
Emmm pies! Or i like to go 2 cheeseburgers if I am on the run. Cakes Melbourne - KateM12 - 18-08-2009 Ah, Peter <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> What you reminded me of, this time!!! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I used to buy some very tasty apple muffins at a jewish bakery in Balaclava str. in St Kilda in Melbourne. Very particular taste. I haven't been able to find something similar here in Athens. <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Cry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> Kate Cakes Melbourne - KateM12 - 19-08-2009 Hi Peter <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Thank you very much for your tempting invitations. Hard to resist, really <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I would take these cake and hamburber excursions with pleasure <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piwo.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> . I think McCafes have already existed for a long time. I remember one in the airport in Athens when I still worked there. I also remember one in the transit area of the airport in Singapore were I had to stay for 3 days when I was flying back from Melbourne to Athens with a staff ticket and no available seat could be found on a flight to London in March 2007. Unless we are talking about different things I am happy to hear we are not the worst in stripping tourists. I have seen it happening many times, in Tourkolimano, in my area in Piraeus where I live. Tourkolimano (modern name Mikrolimano) is a marina with posh fish taverans, a tradition to have fish here. Also in Rhodes, a very touristic island. Very nice indeed to visit as long as you know how to protect yourself from waiters. I'm really looking forward to those apple muffins in Melbourne together <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':Rose:' /> friendly regards Kate Cakes Melbourne - KateM12 - 19-08-2009 Hi Peter <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I don't remember having seen McCafe in London either, but that may be due to the fact that McDonalds hasn't been very successful in Greece as it is far away from it's culture. There are other fast food reastaurants that I'd choose if I had to choose a fast food. In July 2008 I was in Scontald and I enjoyed very much a chinese fast food in Stirling where we stayed. Of course I'm a fan of chinese food - as well as other orientlal dishes <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I have never been on the wheele in London as I have a phobia with height. I would have died up there I think if I were. But I know the place. regards Kate Cakes Melbourne - glen - 20-08-2009 I could always split the topic. No big deal! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Cakes Melbourne - glen - 22-08-2009 Yeah I will come around to doing another clean in in the next week or so <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> |
