Eating American In The Land Down Under - J_Marie - 09-09-2009

Well, only being here 2 months I still miss my food from back home. Yes it is chuck full of fat unlike some of your dishes here. BUT, I am really missing going out to eat and ordering a nice REAL burger! Not one of those flimsy thin ones with all that stuff including BEETROOT?!?!?! Does anyone know of a great place to eat that seems "American". Ah, and don't say TGIF, been there done that, it's similar to the US, I just fear thats as close as I'll get!!!

Any feedback is appreciated!

There's something called the Soft Rock (or the Hard Rock?) in on Chapel St (either South Yarra or Prahan). I can't remember the exact name, but it had all sorts of 50s American food - mostly burgers, fries, shakes etc.

Hard Rock Café...

No, I don't think it was Hard Rock - it's not a cafe, more a greasy burger joint. Even the music is all from the 50s.

Yes, that's it. Not the most exciting place (and overpriced to boot), but it's the only place of that kind around here.
