Hi there Power!

I'm sure that you are correct about the period being over 24 hours.
But every "group" of 24 hours surely starts at Midnight.
That's still 12AM. And a new day hence a new count!

Come on down Glen and tell what gives?

I think maybe you have your time zone settings for another country Peter!

You can control that under "My Controls" and then "Board Settings".

Cheers, Glen

The time setting is correct. I.E. GMT plus 10 hours and set for auto DST.

Hello Glen!

Yikes and stuff like that!
I have just checked "today's top posters" and I see the number of posts against my name is now 8.
A few hours ago it was 11.

Do you know the answer to the mystery?

Hi Peter, I think you'll find that particular feature in the forum software doesn't know what the actual time is - just what activity happened in a given time frame - 24 hours is my guess.

That's 24 hours prior to whenever you've clicked the checker - not from the start of the day.
Think of it as if you were taking a reading on your speedo trip meter since the last reset

A post count check at 12AM at your place will give you the same number as to another viewer in an area where it's 11PM.

Just for your info, the server where the melbchat website is hosted in actually in the USA even though we are all over here in Aussie land! Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Hello Power and Glen.

Yes, what Power says is correct.
It (the count) is always the number of posts in the 24 hours prior to the moment of checking.
Power is correct it does not mean a set 24 hours. (I.E. midnight to midnight).
So if one checks at 3.00PM Tuesday, the count will include all posts dating back to 3.00PM Monday.

Is that clear as mud?

Personally I would have preferred a set 24 hours midnight to midnight!

OK Glen hear this:

Before I posted this post, I checked the entry called:
"Today's top twenty posters".
Notice, it says today's top twenty. Not yesterdays or the last 24 hours or since one flew over the cockatoos nest.
So today prior to this post I have posted ZERO posts.
BUT I was on top with 8 posts.

So better get your lawyer on the job Glen! :fishie:

OK Glen I know I'm (k)nit picking .......

Hey Glen.

Why not use an Aussie Server.
At least the reaction times would be quicker.

Usually you pay a monthly fee and then pay extra fee for excess bandwidth usage i fyou exceed the monthly quota. Though I have not had to pay excess charges for quite a while!

Hello Glen.

Now I seem to have a very bland result on this new (facelifted site).
My reputation is Neutral at #1.
How does that come about?
And how can I get a bad a** reputation?

I'm guessing the reputation is linked to the post voting option in the bottom right hand corner of each post and since we have positive voting only, your reputation will always be intact, Peter. :-)
