Hello Aloysius.
This forum has only just sprung back to life.
A couple of months ago it was dead dead.

Hi Peter,

You want life - that's really great!

The opportunity to leave behind a dying DTV forum is lovely.

Malcontents are internal parasites, unless treated they lead to disease and death.

I saw some last night on Insight, wisdom and considered opinion being beliittled and sneered at by clever but bigoted extreme people.

Clearly, as some of those present said, it's not an issue of religion that they face, it's an issue of naked power seeking by groups quite happy to use the guise of religion.

This of course is not new!!!

Oooops got serious there, but you probably understand what I mean.

A minority on the DTV forums behaved badly enough to cause the Moderators to take unnecessarily vigorous action - penalising all to control the few.

Hence the forum refugees that may bring more life to another forum.

+1.. Don't use the r word.. Glen might send me back.. I have a new life now  :officechair: ... Heck I may even move to Melbourne in the future  (not sure when yet though :D)..

It's either HongKong or Melborune.. HK is quite unstable politically :Shame: so that naturally bumps Melbourne up my list :wacky: ..

Hmmmmm, Aloy. . .
How was it possible for a thread DTV cause the moderator any angst?
Surely TV is a non angst subject.

Myrantz.
May I plug Melbourne, forget Hk.
No high humidity day and night.
No heat except for a few days in Summer.
Hardly ever rains, bit windy sometimes, mainly by the coast.

Very very good points... They're in my pro list already.. :D

HK still in the short list though, for now :P...

Hi Aloy...
Alas I spend almost no time at the DTV so HK would be wasted on me.

I mean't that if you are keen on electronics particularly TV and audio or photographic gear then HK is a very good place indeed.

The last 3 cameras I bought in HK, I once bought a Yamaha RXV2600 receiver at less than 1/2 Aussie price. A bit of a pig getting it back to the Hotel but a saving of $1000+ makes that a minor consideration.

Just for the record

AV Forum Mod handed out a series of suspensions last night at DTV/AV

a couple of threads were started for the discussion of the re-opening of Off Topic (which we all know was closed due to "renovations")

a few members went a little too off topic in those threads to escape notice, ironically enough,  the highest ratio of offenses were .................

Chopsus suspended for making 5 suspendable posts in those threads

yorac suspended for making 3 suspendable posts in those threads

action was dealt with publicly and moderator demonstrated transparency by not deleting the offending posts but rather noting them with edits underneath them

a couple of other members were also suspended for various responses to particular taunts, with one being suspended for only attempting to continue the discussion rationally after the threads were closed

i rememeber a fred a long while ago where a few members wanted a name and shame type thing, or as in some other websites a notification as to whether a member is suspended or not...

i guess the community won out ;-)

well

minty now completes the whole 3 piece mug set

theres one for minty

ihcl.jpg

one for yorac

and one for the little GROOT who lived down the lane
il_340x270.506794834_cweq.jpg

Not necessary, it's the "now generation" way of getting recognition for every single thing they say or do and pretty much is just a popularity contest. Head over to FB if you want to give and receive "likes", leave this forum to the grown ups.

This post is not in the spirit of the AV Forum - suspension issued

Congratulations on your lack of comprehension. An adult would understand the motive. A moron would jump to the wrong conclusion. Moron.

Abusive response to the above post - suspension issued

Congrats buddy, you just proved your immaturity with an abusive post. I'm sure the mods will be impressed.

And you also proved why a like button is nothing more than a popularity contest, thanks. Lol.

Edited by AV Forum Mod, Today, 11:57 AM.
No reason for this post other than aggrivation - member suspended

open plan suspensions appear to be the new black at DTV these days

i like

Just a thought, but wouldn't bans at DTV be a lot more effective if they were post count based, rather than calendar based. The way that forum is going now, you could have a one month ban and miss about 100 posts. 5 years ago, a 2 hour ban would have been enough for that...

Nice reporting :)

i cant take all the credit, i would like to thank minty, yorac and especially Chopsus for turning themselves in

all the world is a stage and all the men and women merely players, they have their entrances and they have their exits...

yesterday, minty found the exit

He'll be back.

Just like when he said he was never coming to OT again.

Those 3 need OT more than Mello and that's saying something. At least Mello admits to wanting it, they just keep saying the forums better off without it and then go OT in the main forum.

Should be interesting to see what Tim does at the end of the month.

Should this be in a PM?
