Internet has been in existent for quite a while. What do you like about Internet? What is the most frequently thing you do here? I usually search for new information on the net.
hi dasha,

i do a lot of searching for info as well. plus i spend a lot of time looking after websites such as this one.

web design is one of my main hobbies! (when I am not out fishing of course)...and its amazing how much info you can find on the topic on the internet.

i also use the internet to meet people! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> plus I use it to play online games. I am particularly keen on a game called battlefield 2142:

I spend a lot of time running my internet based business then looking after my own forums as well. I also keep doing more and more reading about various topics and the amount of information is overwhelming yet comforting to know that you will fully be an expert on that subject if you keep up learning about it.
The single greatest thing about the internet is that when I'm up and active and it's almost 3 AM locally, I can go somewhere that people are up and active because it's still a reasonable hour in their time zone. It's what, 2100 over there?
yes it was 8.55pm when you made that post! i love the avatar! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

That's Fred Fred Burger, from "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy". It's a fun and creepy little cartoon that makes lots of obscure references to classic horror and occult history, so - having a degree in occult science - I sit and watch it and giggle madly about things my wife doesn't understand at all.

Lately it's been more about the weird pop culture references and less about making horrible puns on Machen and Lovecraft. I think there's a movie coming up in a couple weeks.

I use the interent to keep in touch with people. Its also great for finding out new informationa and keeping upto date!

What did we do before the interent eh!
I like the internet because it's an opportunity for everyone to stay in touch. (with great forums such as this)
The people I have met online. I have been online since 99 and have met some wonderful (and some very odd and very bizarre people). I also love the fact that I can keep in touch with people I haven't seen in years. I belong to a lot of communities (some of them I've been members of for over 6 years now!) I also like finding useless information by surfing through wikipedia!
you might be tempted to become a wikipedia editor and then you can create your own encyclopedia! <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

i haven't bothered myself but I know a lot of people get a kick out of it.
I love the net because it's a brilliant research tool! Can't image how we ever lived without it.
Wow. I could go on and on about the benefits of the internet and why I like it, but instead I will give a short story.

When I was young, I didn't have much access to computers, but they fascinated me from day 1. I remember that I once told my mother that I would like to make a living designing computer games or something along those lines. The expression on here face said it all; she wasn't happy. Anyway, I didn't pursue my 'dream' ... but now I am trying to pursue my interests once more. I'm now in the process of developing a website that I think will be at least relatively successful. It would be great if I could support myself from this new venture, but that remains to be seen. The only good thing I have going for me is that I am enjoying what I am doing. The biggest problem is that I don't have much programing skills. I'm using the internet to find the people who do so that I can get them to work for me and also so that I can learn from them. All in all, I spend way too much time online every day. But, say what, I enjoy it, and at the end of the day, what good is life if we can't even enjoy ourselves, right?
