thomas
hi thomas! welcome to melbourne and welcome to melbourne chat!

wie geht es Ihnen?

in 3 months i am sure you will learn lots of english! didn't you study some english back in germany when you were at school? i am sure it will all come back to you.

yes we do have lots of speed limits! but then again in germany there are speed limits in most places too. even on the freeways it was mostly 130km/hr limits. In one place I visited, we could drive at an unlimited speed and we got up to 220km/hr in my friend's very fast car! that was an audi quattro i think. a bit scary!

take it easy, glen

yes i learnd a little bit english at school but the biggest problem is that i don't know enough vokabulars and that is the biggest problem. at school you have a topic like supermarket and you learn words like appel, bill, water. but if you want to talk to somebody you down't talk about supermarket and something like that. you talk about econmy the goverment girls cars and so on.

but in this 21 days i'm here now my english becomes better and better.

very funny to sit in my appartment and listen to the formular 1 sounds <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> its very crazy <img src='http://www.melbournechat.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

yes to drive 220 can be very scary. i'm used to drive 200-210 but ones i drove 245km/hr and that ist very very scary because the white stripes becomes to an white line. and you kill 30liter petrol per 100km ^^ thats the moste scary thing if you look at our prices of patrol.

a big problem ist the comunikation to germany becaus there are 10hours diverence in the time. and i think this month you will change the clock as well as the germans and than the difference will be 12hours -.-

but i enjoy my time in australia.

schould i do the grand ocean tour?

or do you have an other special tip for me?

kind greatings thomas
hi thomas, i heard on the TV this evening that germany was considering reducing the speed limits of the auto bahn so that people would reduce their green house gas emissions. i doubt it will ever happen!

the great ocean road is a good trip. were you going to drive yourself? i think there are organised trips too. it might be a good way to meet some people if you go on a guided tour.

also i recommend going to phillip island to see the penguins. they are very cool. you can do that as a day tour. its only 1 hr and 15 minutes to get there.

are you going to go see the grand prix? i went once but i found it a bit deafening!!! :-) i think i give it a miss this time.

i might go to the Avalon Airshow. that is coming up soon. i have never been before. it's good if you like to see jet fighters etc.

take it easy, glen
