Nyonya Kebaya: Women's Costume from Malaysia

4 May 2007 to 9 September 2007

Revealing the beauty and enduring fascination of the distinctive Malaysian women's kebaya, this exhibition will be shown for the first and only time in Australia at the Immigration Museum.

From its beginnings in Peranakan Straits Chinese communities in the 1800s, the kebaya has evolved into a modern-day Malaysian fashion icon.

Nyonya Kebaya draws on one of the world's largest collections of historic and contemporary kebaya, gathered by the late wife of Malaysia's Prime Minister, and presents the history and evolution of this stunning garment.

Price: Included with venue admission.
