Words In Winter Celebrations 2007

Event Dates: - 3 - 12 Aug 2007

It’s time for the annual WORDS IN WINTER CELEBRATIONS with writers, actors, musicians, poets, bookaholics, tourists and locals sharing in the magic of Words.

Now in its sixth year, the annual WORDS IN WINTER CELEBRATIONS will see poets, authors, artists, musicians and Wordsmiths gather to delight tourists and locals in Daylesford, Clunes and Talbot.

In cafes and pubs, a bowling club and an old court house, town halls, bookshops, libraries, a church and wine bars, a market and classrooms, studios and a B&B you’ll come across Wordsmiths putting magic into words with enchanting performances during August. Poets will read their own compositions, authors discuss their work, singers/songwriters perform original material and historians present the community’s past.

WORDS IN WINTER CELEBRATIONS opens with a traditional Mummers’ play and a presentation of Morris Dancing on August 3 and concludes with cosmic words and Russian supper at the privately-owned Talbot Observatory where a rare glimpse of a lunar eclipse may be seen on August 28. In between it is all happening in Daylesford and Clunes on 3, 4, 5 and 6 of August and in Talbot throughout the month.

Among the many and varied events there will be a food, wine and foodie trivia event, Super-8 film screening, a performance novella with six writers each writing a chapter in a café, community choirs, a piano performance with poetry, photography with text, humorous poetry workshop, Shakespeare sonnets and monologues with period music, a Scrabble Fest, a Book Ball where people dress as their favourite character and even an Op Shop Ball.
