Hi,

I am hoping someone can help. Do disability pensioners travel free on public transport in Melbourne? I am in WA where transport is now free for pensioners. If not how much is a day pass for the trains and the trams? Can I use the same ticket for the trains and the trams? Are there concession rates for travel for pensioners? I have not been to Melbourne before.

thanks

Leigh

You can get info about concession rates here:

Cheers, Glen
Concessions are available to NSW and interstate pensioners on presentation of their valid Pensioner Concession Card. They are available to people of different ages and in different circumstances, and include Aged Pensioners, Disability Support Pensioners, Single Parents and Carer Pensioners.

In regards to concessions, I can confirm that all Australian pension cards are entitled to concession rates in the state of Victoria. Furthermore, interstate Health Care Cards are not entitled to concessions as there are no reciprical agreements between the states.

If you are traveling from a country location into the city with Vline, a DAILY return ticket is valid for all buses, trams and trains whilst you are in the city, but you need to be aware of the Peak/Off Peak times.

The site that MisterJase put up is a very good one if you want rates, or you can simply call Metro on 131638. (Glen also used the same site) If you want information about country trains in particular, or buses... you can use Vline.com.au

I hope this helps
Thanks! Peterjmelb for providing such great information.
